Neighbors United Below Canal (NUBC) represents thousands of stakeholders in the diverse and unique communities below Canal Street and the surrounding area.

We are community organizations, businesses, activists with support from our elected officials.

NUBC’s members have a unified voice against Mayor de Blasio’s plan to build the tallest jail in the world, standing over 300 ft. tall at 124-125 White St, currently occupied by The Tombs and the Manhattan Detention Center, immediately adjacent to Chung Pak low income senior residence. A jail as tall as the Statue of Liberty will negatively impact Chinatown forever.

The City Council has voted "YES" on October 17, 2019 to approve this Mega-Jails Plan. Once it is approved, our lawsuit will be our last chance to fight against this Plan. We have little time to file after approval, or we lose our chance. The law says that we must file our law suit within 4 months of the council vote, every minute counts!
